EFD Fire Prevention Open House and Safety Fair General Volunteer Information

From the East and 494 Take Highway 7 West about 10 miles to County Road 19/Oak Street take a right, Galpin Lake is on your left. After you turn onto Co. Rd. 19, the station is almost exactly 1 mile away. County Road 19/Oak Street changes into Smithtown Road at the Excelsior/Shorewood border shortly after the Excelsior Water Tower. Stay on the road and the fire station is on your right, go past the station and turn North right after the gray Excelsior Fire District sign. Go straight through the fence gates and park appropriately.
If you get to the stop light on the curve at Smithtown and Manitou you have gone too far.
If you are coming from the West it is easiest to stay get on 7 going East and use the same directions.

Parking Volunteers, please park in the Shorewood public works parking lot near the back of the lot. Firefighter’s vehicles should be already parked in the area. To enter the parking area off of county Road 19 you would turn North by the gray South lake Fire District sign and follow the road straight through the gate. You can enter through the building.

Building Entrance To enter the building go through the main entrance from the parking lot and follow the posted signs to the training/meeting/class room.
Signs will be posted for all other destinations.

Attire Wear items the represent your company and/or city and name tags if you wish. If you are volunteering from another fire department, please feel free to wear at-shirt or uniform that represents your department.
Name tags are avaliable if you would like to wear them. The will be in our communications room or just ask your contact person.
Please be aware that the Fire District does not allow any soliciting or campaigning at Fire District sponsored events. During election time candidates are welcome to wear items that identify them as a candidates and a campaign button. The Fire District does not allow businesses or those running for office to randomly hand out business and/or campaign materials, buttons, and business cards. We ask that business cards only be handed out upon a request from a person(s) attending a Fire District event.

Dinner Dinner is free, we serve grilled hotdogs, Tom Thumb Mini Donuts, Dunn’s Bros. Coffee, McDonalds Orange drink, cookies, and popcorn. Yes, it is a well balanced meal. There is bottled water available for volunteers in our training room kitchen. Ask any firefighter for assistance.
