Recycling or proper disposal of your Christmas Tree After the holidays, discard your tree properly and with respect to your neighbors and environment. Many cities have curbside pick up arrangements for your tree with the local garbage Collection Company. Contact your City Hall for date. No part of a Christmas tree or evergreen can be burned in a fireplace. The sap acts like an accelerate and the tree can explode in flames. The sap can also build up in your chimney and significantly raise the chances of a chimney fire in the future. You can recycle your tree: Stand it upright outside a window and created a winter wonderland that makes entertaining bird watching. Place stale bread, fruit peels, and rinds in the branches for the birds. Its needles and branch tips can be dried out and placed in a bowl to keep the evergreen fragrance in your home all season long. DO NOT BURN ANY PART OF THE TREE IN YOUR FIREPLACE.
For more information on a recycling program near you go to www.realchristmastrees.org and type in your ZIP code.
