Main Event Live Burn Grand Finale 7:45pm
Watch a dramatic, yet safe, side-by-side demonstration of how a fire can quickly become deadly in less than three minutes.
Designed to illustrate what occurs during a home fire, this event will compare two similarly furnished rooms with smoke detectors — one equipped with fire sprinklers and the other without.
In addition to saving lives, fire sprinkler systems -- unlike smoke alarms -- can actually control a fire and reduce property loss by as much as two-thirds.

Residential Fire Safety Demonstration Series Live Burn Grand Finale Demonstration 7:45 PM Watch as two side-by-side fires are set in identical rooms representing a typical room in a residential home. One room is protected by a residential sprinkler and the other room is unprotected. Watch how quickly the fire in the protected room is put out by the one residential sprinkler head and how the other room is consumed by flames. Live Grease Fire Demonstration Times: 6:40 PM 7:00 PM 8:30 PM Watch this explosive live fire demonstration and see what happens when water is used to put out a grease fire You will learn what to do if one should occur on your stove top. Live Fire Sprinkler Demonstration Times: 6:30 PM 8:15 PM Be amazed when you watch how quickly a single residential sprinkler head puts out a real fire. Get to know more about residential sprinklers. Get the facts and understand how they work to save lives National Sprinkler Association: A Representative will be here to answer your questions about commercial and residential sprinklers Uponor residential sprinkler systems for homes has provided the rooms for the Grand Finale Live Burn at 7:45 PM. Their friendly staff will have residential sprinkler tubing, sprinkler heads on display and knowledgeable people at their booth to answer your questions about residential sprinkler systems. Hands on Fire Extinguisher Demonstration Times: On going Get hands on experience in a safe and controlled environment. Dave will be happy to help you find a smoke alarm that fits your needs and that will help your family survive a house fire. NEW Zoll Medical Products, AutoPulse CPR Compressions Machine will be on display. In July the Excelsior Fire District put the AutoPulse in service. A representative from ZOll medical supplies will show Excelsior Fire District residence how this new machine will help save lives. CenterPoint Energy: Stop by their booth and learn more about pipeline safety and sign up for a free Carbon Monoxide Detector National Weather Service will display the newest weather forecasting equipment and share information on advancements in weather forecasting and research technology. Minnesota Safety Services will teach you CPR in just a few minutes. They will be teaching the basics of CPR to all ages. Hennepin County 9-1-1 Dispatch will have a 9-1-1 dispatcher available to answer questions about new dispatching technology and talk about what kids need to know about calling 9-1-1 in today’s world. Hennepin County Regional Poison Center: Learn how to prevent poisonous exposures. Each year, Poison Centers handle over 1 million potentially poisonous exposures in children. These poisonings like all accidents can be prevented.Salvation Army Canteen: See the newest member of the Salvation Armies Emergency Disaster Services Fleet. A New Salvation Army Canteen will be on display. Learn more about the Salvation Armies roll in emergencies. Volunteers will be handing out water, hot cocoa and coffee. Knewtson Health Group: Get good advice about your child’s school backpack and how to take the load off of your child’s back. ResourceWest Hopkins and Minnetonka Family Services will be collecting coats and schools supplies. I.C.A. Food Shelf: Bring a non-perishable food item to help stock the shelves of the local food shelf for the holidays Things To Do Safe Escape House: Learn about fire prevention, fire safety, and how to escape from smoke. Sparky the Fire Dog: This year Sparky turns 60. Please join us to wish Sparky a Happy Birthday. Cake will be served while supplies last. He will be avaliable all evening to shake hands, give out hugs, and too pose for pictures. Freddie the Fire Truck: Come talk to Freddie about fire safety. Sparky’s Spray House: Spray a real fire hose and hit the targets. Fire Prevention Fishing Pond: Earn your bait by participating in educational activities throughout the open house and then go fishing for fun surprises. Fire Truck Rides: Get in line early so you don’t miss all the action! Notice: The Fire Trucks Rides will be temporarily closed for safety reasons during the Grand Finale Live Burn Demonstration at 7:45 PM. Numbers will be handed out to people in line and the rides will resume after the burn. Interactive Grease Fire Display: Excelsior firefighters will test your kitchen Safety knowledge and show you the safe way to put out a grease fire. 9/11 T-shirts will be sold at this year’s event. The proceeds will go to fund the proposed Firefighters Memorial at the Minnesota State Capital. Adult and children sizes available.
